Top Ski Chalets in Austria for Groups
Austria is a perennially popular destination for skiers from all over the world and offers a really fantastic group ski holiday. There are some top ski chalets in Austria for groups (as you’ll see below), and whilst the skiing is incredible, we don’t think these are the main reasons for Austria’s popularity. The two reasons (in our opinion!) for this are:
1. It’s not France.
So many groups these days ask for a non-France ski option. Not because there is anything wrong with France (there certainly isn’t, we love it!) but more because they’ve been to France for the last few seasons and want to try something different.
2. The Apres-Ski….
Having fun off the slopes is just as important for groups as the skiing itself – and no-one does apres like the Austrians! Some of the places really do have to be experienced to be believed.
However, finding a ski chalet for a large group is tricky, purely because the amount of large chalets pales in comparison to the choice on offer in France. So, we’ve put together our list of chalets in Austria that really suit groups:
Such a good location, right on the high street so literally a few doors away from the bars. The skiing is within easy striking distance too, a few minutes’ walk away. [Sleeps 19-20]
More of a chalet hotel than a chalet, so you’ll probably not be looking at this as a sole occupancy option. However, large chalet hotels lend themselves perfectly to groups who are unsure of final numbers. You can start with a booking for a few people and then add more on as and when your friends get too jealous to miss out. The property is superb and the resort is probably our favourite in Austria. [Sleeps up to 63]
A real gem of a chalet. First of all, Mayrhofen offers super skiing and great apres-ski, and this chalet is slap bang in the centre. Additionally, it has a good sized living room (rare in Austria) and also all sorts of different room sizes which means flexibility. It’s also incredibly well priced! [Sleeps 20-26]
Whilst Lech doesn’t have the same apres-ski on offer as the rest of the resorts and chalets on this list, it does offer other reasons to visit. For one, it’s jaw-droppingly beautiful. Chalet Montfort itself is the main reason for being on this list though. It’s more of a small hotel, but a group of 26 can book it for sole occupancy. That means you get an amazing location literally on a nursery slope and a chalet with its own small bar area too. It’s a super choice for a group of families looking for a big property to book for exclusive use. [Sleeps 25-35]
A really comfortable and spacious chalet. The living and dining rooms are a lovely size and the bedrooms are all well proportioned too. The chalet can also be booked on a room by room basis for most dates, again offering groups uncertain of their final size that much-needed flexibility. [Sleeps 16]
