Top Ten Catered Ski Chalets for 2018/19

Top Ten Catered Ski Chalets for 2018/19

Here at Alpenglow, we are in the very fortunate position of loving what we sell. We take great pride in the ski chalets we offer and the holidays we book for our clients. We’ve put together a list of our top ten catered ski chalets for the coming season. These are all great chalets, but not only that, they offer superb holidays too.

CHALET NANOUK – Val d’Isere

Chalet Nanouk Val d'Isere - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

One of the oldest catered ski chalets in ‘Val’. The Nanouk was the welcome recipient of a refurbishment a couple of years back which has really helped to refresh the property. The location is good, central enough so that everything you need is on the doorstep but tucked away off the main drag so passing noise isn’t an issue. The operator that runs it is a super boutique chalet company that provide superb service and great food. There is so much to like about this chalet. Top tip: If you see a Labrador outside the chalet with an odd look on his face,  that’s Bailey and that’s how he says hello!

CHALET LOUP BLANC. – Courchevel

Chalet Loup Blanc Courchevel - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

A gorgeous chalet in a gorgeous location. The Loup Blanc is in Courchevel Le Praz, the quaint village at the base of this sought-after resort. The resort is the first thing we love, Le Praz is your stereotypical French Alpine village and still remains relatively unspoilt. The view over the lake towards the gondola with the 1992 Olympic ski jump in the background is almost reason enough to stay here. The chalet itself is modern but still remains cosy too. The feature that captures everyone’s eye is the swimming pool, a real touch of luxury. For something of this quality, you’d expect a price of bank-breaking proportions but actually, that isn’t so. You don’t get the frilly luxury features that proper luxury chalet operators provide but you do get good and a truly stunning chalet at a great price.

CHALET CROC BLANC – Morzine

Chalet Croc Blanc - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

We love this chalet, it’s located right in the centre of the resort close to the myriad shops, bars and the two main ski lifts too. The location suits families (noise is generally not an issue in spite of the location) and groups of friends looking to hit the apres. The rooms are good, and the hot tub in the wellness area is a lovely touch too. This is one of those chalets that if it were in one of the mega resorts such as Val d’Isere, it would cost three times the price. We can’t recommend this one highly enough.

CHALET BOIS D’EMERAUDE – La Tania

Chalet Bois d’Emeraude - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

This chalet was brand new for last season following a enormous refurbishment. The location is a touch isolated (it’s very much a detached property in its own grounds) but the village centre and main lifts are both only a few minutes walk away. The chalet has been finished to an incredibly high standard and the hot tub is a thing of beauty!

CHALET HOTEL ABENDROT – Ischgl

Chalet Hotel Abendrot - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

Ischgl should be on every keen skier’s to do list. It’s an amazing resort with world-class skiing and awesome apres-ski too. Finding accommodation here can be tricky because there are so few chalets and the hotels are comparatively expensive. The Abendrot, in our opinion, offers the most cost effective way of staying in Ischgl. It’s a super property right in the heart of the action and a stone’s throw from the gondola. The rooms are enormous and the bar is a lovely spot for a relaxing drink (something that is actually tough to find in Ischgl!).

CHALET BERBOU – Verbier

Chalet Berbou - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

Getting the location of your chalet right in Verbier is so important, because getting around Verbier after the skiing has finished can be tricky. With this chalet, you are within a very easy walk of the main lifts, town centre and apres-ski spots too. The chalet is lovely, really spacious with a great living room and super catering service and contrary to the norm in Verbier, it’s good value.

CHALET CHOCOLAT – La Plagne

Chalet Chocolat - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

This chalet is a real ‘easy sell’. It’s ski in/out, has its own private hot tub and is located opposite the gondola too.  Not only that but there no chalet hosts here…only trained chefs. Granted, the chalet is in Les Coches which is a bit sleepy compared to other resorts but  if you are a keen skier looking for immediate access to a huge ski area OR a family group looking for convenience and value for money, you can’t go wrong with this one.

CHALET SORBIER – Meribel

Chalet Sorbier Meribel - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

Meribel is the middle section to the 3 Valleys, the largest ski area in the world. This chalet is the perfect location to explore the skiing from, it’s almost on the piste and that’s very rare in Meribel.  It has the hot tub too and a really great catering service. This one goes quickly…!

CHALET NIMBUS. – St. Anton

Chalet Nimbus St. Anton - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

The Nimbus is a chalet apartment, one of three chalets in the building. The property is finished to a very high standard, it’s very modern and has a sauna too. What takes the breath away (literally) is the outdoor pool which, although shared with the other chalets, offers a true touch of luxury.

CHALET SAMOENS – Samoens

Chalet Samoens - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

We aren’t just about sending our clients to Val d’Isere or Meribel. We really love enquiries from groups looking for something a little different. Samoens (the chalet and the resort) offers that in spades. It’s located in the centre of a truly lovely village. There is actually a good amount of shops and bars here too so don’t be put off by the village nature. The chalet is just off the high street, immaculately finished and boasts a hot tub and top end service levels too.

CHALET SERMOZ – Peisey

Chalet Sermoz Peisey - Top 10 Catered Ski Chalets 2018-19

We love this part of Les Arcs. Most of this resort is taken up with high rise purpose-built apartment buildings, but not Peisey. Peisey is a small ski village in located right between Les Arcs and La Plagne so you can explore both areas with similar ease. It has a few apres-ski spots and some good restaurants. We are also of the opinion that the best skiing in Les Arcs is actually just above Peisey too. The chalet is located almost next to the link to La Plagne, it’s very spacious and the hot tub has one of the most amazing views you’ll find in the Alps.
