Les Gets

Les Gets is one the far right side of the ski area (as you look at the piste map) and its surrounding ski area best suits beginners and intermediates. There are a good range of green and blue slopes, most of which are in the trees, meaning the skiing isn’t too badly affected during inclement weather. To access the rest of the enormous Portes Du Soleil ski area, ski down to Morzine and then walk from the bottom of the Pleney piste for 5 minutes to the Super Avoriaz gondola and away you go. This isn’t that convenient so we tend to recommend Les Gets for family groups that will be happy with the immediate area.

BEGINNERS:

Les Gets is a great choice for families and beginners thanks to the wide choice of blue runs just above the village centre.

INTERMEDIATES:

Intermediates will be happy with Les Gets, there is a good selection of more challenging reds in the Les Gets area itself, we love the selection of reds at the top of the Ranfoilly peak and the slightly separate Mont Chery ski area too as it is slightly quieter than the main area itself.

EXPERTS:

Les Gets isn’t a great choice for experts looking for a huge choice of pistes as the main Portes Du Soleil area is more easily accessed via Morzine and Avoriaz. Les Gets does have a good amount of off pistes, especially some lovely tree runs. Finding these can be difficult so we do recommend a guide and make sure your insurance covers you too.

Whilst Les Gets is not a resort that lively groups choose to stay in because of the quieter atmosphere, there is a surprisingly good choice of bars. Certainly more than enough to offer a choice of venue for a couple of drinks after skiing or heading into town for a beer or two after dinner.

There is an Irish Pub called Le Pub Irlandais right on the main street and within a couple of minutes walk from the lifts. The owner loves brewing his own beers and this bar is a popular choice for holidaymakers and locals alike. Another good choice is the Black Bear that has a big terrace and heaters too, a good choice for some après-ski. For those looking for a bit more action, there is a nightclub open to the wee hours.
