Some welcome additions for Winter 18/19

The summertime is often a period of change for resorts and operators alike. This summer is no different and a few additions to some old favourites have piqued our interest!

When a family ski group call us up asking for recommendations, La Rosiere is often the the first resort that springs to mind. However, some family groups with ultra keen skiers will often shy away from La Rosiere is it’s ski area is perceived to be too small and not challenging enough for some. Well…. Good news for Winter 18/19. The resort is building two new 6 man chairlifts resulting in the addition of 5 new pistes, all of which will be red runs. This will boost the existing 148km or slopes up to 190km. A welcome addition indeed!

Over in the Espace Killy, some exciting news for Apres-Ski enthusiasts. One of the most popular apres spots in Val d’Isere, Coco Rico, is opening a second bar in Tignes. Coco Rico has been a real shot in the arm to the Val d’Isere apres ski scene, a welcome alternative to the glitz and glamour of the more famous Folie Douce. It’s a more down to earth Apres scene, similar to the Rond-Point in Meribel. The new Coco Rico will be in Tignes Val Claret, next to the Grande Motte funicular. We think this is going to be a really welcome addition to the Tignes apres-scene which has always been seen as second best compared to that in Val d’Isere.

There is a brand new Club Med being built in Les Arcs 1600 this year, the Panorama is bringing a bit of long awaited luxury to this purpose built resort.  With Les Arcs providing great skiing for all levels, this should go down a storm with families in opposition to the more adult friendly Club Med Arcs Extreme in Les Arcs 2000.
