BEGINNERS

There are several easy slopes and practice lifts in the area of Maria Alm that are suitable for beginners. From Maria Alm, you can take an easy connection to Aberg-Langeck where you will also find a selection of wide, easy slopes. In Dienten and Hinterthal, you have access to tow lifts and some beginners slopes in the valley.

ADVANCED SKIING

There are a number of black slopes to choose from on the Aberg-Langeck, the Gabuhel, the Wastlhohe and the Schneeberg, as well as lots of options to explore some powder. There is also a freeride information centre at the Aberg middle station. There are a selection of snow parks in each main village too, giving you plenty to explore.

SKI-TOURING

Die Königstour – ski like a king! Enjoy one of the most beautiful ski circuits in the Austrian Alps covering 35 km of slopes with breathtaking views. Königstour: this ski tour is one of the best in the Alps. The 35 kilometre panoramic tour on easy and intermediate slopes includes 6 summits and 7,500 vertical metres. Very manageable in a single day, even for intermediate skiers. It includes beautiful views of the Hochkönig and Steinernes Meer.

Each village tends to have its own Umbrella bars at the base stations but here are some alternative suggestions;

Zapferalm – found at the base station of Kings Cab in Mühlbach, this bar is very popular for some apres-ski. When it starts getting late, you can ski directly back down to Mühlbach.

Riverside Bar & Bistro – a lovely bar with a sunny terrace and party atmosphere, found at the Skizentrum Hintermoos.

Dorfstadl – can be found at the Natrun babylift at the vilalge of Maria Alm, which serves all day. It has a great rustic atmosphere and is on the piste used for night skiing, making it a great place for an apres-ski party.

Tiergartenscherm – located on slope 4 from the Kings Cab, this bar welcomes visitors on the large terrace with good ski links back down to Mühlbach.

Barmoosschirm – found at the Aberg middle station near the Barmoos Hute, a good central location with a great party atmosphere.

Brundl-Stadl – a lively apres-ski bar with live music events and gourmet evenings, found just above the base station of the Burglalm chairlift.
